One of many top coffee shops in Soho is the renowned and popular Milk Bar.

On Hackney Road in London is the intriguingly monikered Taste of Bitter Love.

A downright marvellous coffee shop. 

Of all the coffee shops I've found in York so far, Harlequin offers the best brew.  And it's a lovely place in many other ways. 

The tiny Flat White has a big reputation.  It is one of the best known and most admired coffee shops in Britain.

I wasn't expecting to find anything quite as nice as Stray's on my Newark detour. It's a wonderful, relaxing place with excellent coffee.

Opposite Leeds University is Opposite, a buzzing café with excellent coffee. 

Reading isn't even a city but it finds space for a handful of great indie coffee shops.  The Workhouse Coffee Company was my third stop in what is arguably England's largest town, and it's yet another smashing place.  

As I was passing through Oxford I had to stop at Combibos.  The friendly folks claim to serve "probably the best coffee" in town, and, as far as I can tell, they are probably right.

The centre of Scarborough is the surprising location for Roasters, a smashing coffee shop.

Fernandez & Wells is a benedictine monastary of a coffee shop. Feel your troubles float away.... 

On Monmouth Street in Covent Garden is the original Monmouth Coffee Company shop. It is well renowned and its accolades are well deserved.
