Gallery and Jazz Café, Grosmont

The Gallery and Jazz Café, Grosmont This art gallery and café is in the small village of Grosmont in the North Yorkshire Moors. The best way to get there is via the North Yorkshire Moors Railway, the famous steam train line. The nearest stop is just across the road.

You might not be impressed by the outside (it looks a bit too swish to be cosy). And it calls itself a "jazz café". Thankfully, as soon as you walk inside, you can tell it's not as trendy as it seems. It's relaxed and there is a strong hint of the bohemian. The owners in their arty clothes add to the casual feel.

There is plenty of browseable artwork, background jazz music, views of steam trains rolling by, morning papers and cosy leather chairs. It's a perfect hiding spot until the arrival of the next train.

Loo Loo :

Aspecial day with my dad turned into a nightmare in this coffee shop! Although the inside looks cool and funky the staff and the food are shocking! Stik to art and coffee and stay away from sandwiches is my advice, you cant compete with other establishments in the area with the chees and pickle sandwich I was given today! Shocking!!

Welcome to Cosy Coffee Shops, a blog dedicated to seeking out terrific independent coffee houses. Some are particularly comfy and relaxing, some serve outstanding coffee, some have both. Most serve drinks that are ethically sourced (for example, Fairtrade). We've visited everywhere at least once. Read more about this blog...
