Brown Sugar, Durham

Brown Sugar, Durham Brown Sugar is very brown and very sweet. This is what it feels like to be inside in a box of chocolates; just don't eat the chairs.

Talking of chairs, the best are the giant caramel-coloured leather ones.

Brown Sugar, Durham

Brown Sugar has been designed with precision and is fairly swish, with a plush interior and plasma TV screens. So it is not (I presume) the brainchild of an independent café owner, but it doesn't lack character.

It's a great place to sip a coffee in peace, harmony, and a temperate climate (thanks to the air conditioning). It doubles up as a student bar in the evenings.

With lovely Durham just beyond the huge glass windows, what more could you want?

I can really feel your love for coffee and newspapers and peace. I share it completely. I really am missing England very much right now!!

Definitely very cosy, but the service is often ice-age inducingly slow!
