No. 15, Penrith
No. 15 (at 15, Victoria Road) is spacious, light and airy. It's a relaxing place with generous mugs of coffee.

There is a large blackboard behind the counter which lists "15 reasons to come to 15". I can't immediately think of anything more appropriate, so here they are in full:

1. Lovely people work here
2. Fresh homemade superb soup
3. Locally sourced produce
4. An inspirationally thin cook
5. Friendly, relaxed atmosphere
6. Daily papers to browse
7. Great music
8. FABTASTIC ART
9. Wi-fi internet
10. Homemade bread
11. Yummy cakes and stunning scones
12. Fairtrade drinks
13. Amusing, clever, cultured staff
14. Nice plants
15. Open on Sundays from 10 am.

No. 15, Penrith No. 15, Penrith

There is a comfy sofa, newspapers and artwork planted sparingly on the pale walls. There are plenty of food options but it's large enough to sit quietly with a coffee.

Apart from the unoriginal name, it's excellent.

David :

I would agree with Millie, the staff couldn't be more helpful! I think Fred must have got the wrong place because Number 15 has got to be the best place in Penrith for just about everything!

Julien :

This is a fantastic place to relax and I'd come to Penrith just to drop into Number 15.Great home baked food and big mugs of coffee! Music and Art, real culture and a wonderful way to spend the afternoon! Not to be missed!

lisa :

penrith may appear to be a bit of a drab market town until you stumble across this place. It has all the attributes of a london/city cafe but with a great deal more atmosphere and attention to the details that really matter.
A real community cafe where nothing seems to be too much trouble. When we were there they had some great classic music playing...supremes,simone& Elvis! and the chef was passing around new recipie chocolate brownies to trial. Def drop in here if you're passing its the sort of secret that you'll want to pass amongst friends.

ben :

wow what a find!
fantastic food beig made right in front of you if you time it right, owners run this place with great care and attention which really makes a difference. I wish there was one of these in every high street.everything I could wish for great music, papers to read, wifi, people with kids people with dogs friendly staff and personal service.
apparently they do open some evenings hopefully they will develop this idea further and make it a regular thing

millie :

Welcome to Cosy Coffee Shops, a blog dedicated to seeking out terrific independent coffee houses. Some are particularly comfy and relaxing, some serve outstanding coffee, some have both. Most serve drinks that are ethically sourced (for example, Fairtrade). We've visited everywhere at least once. Read more about this blog...
