Poppi Red is the best option for relaxed coffee-sipping in Hawkshead, a picture-perfect village in the Lakes.
Ideally, visit on a sunny day and sit on the terrace. There are plenty of things to enjoy: nice old houses; birds at their feeders; well-kept hanging baskets.
Poppi Red is small and the menu simple (hot drinks, cakes and wine). There are nice, chunky mis-matching mugs and plates, and the service is friendly. There’s also a colourful gift shop. It’s all good fun, and well worth a mention despite not being a typical coffee shop.
It’s not cheap, but that’s all one can expect in Hawkshead which, while charming, is a tourist hot spot.

tombo i have thoroughly enjoyed this website. it makes me feel very relaxed and calm. in fact, rather like I’m sitting in a cosy cafe drinking a coffee. i really don’t understand hard drugs and alcohol, when there are such wondrous simple pleasures in life as coffee drinking in cosy cafes. i think I’m going to visit this site when i’m stressed! it has a therapeutic effect. oh how i long for a coffee now.
