Beckindales Continental Café, Hawes
|
Beckindales is a large café in the Yorkshire Dales; the closest thing you'll get to a coffee house in this most tea-roomy corner of the world. |
The interior is rather like a tea room, but everything else says coffee house. The coffee selection is extensive and well described, and includes such untypical entries as "baby cino" (hot frothed milk dusted with chocolate). The coffee I tried was good, and the belgian hot chocolate looked tempting.
The menu, which is black and white and read all over, contains pages of taxing riddles to remind patrons like me of our general stupidity, at least when it comes to riddles.
It's a good place to unwind after a heavy day's cheese shopping in Hawes and there's plenty of space for sipping coffee in peace.
