Bean 2 the Coast, Wells-next-the-Sea

This coffee house is relatively new to Wells-next-the-Sea. It provides a welcome spot for sitting with a decent brew and watching the world go by.

Wells, on the north Norfolk coast, is an odd concoction of beautiful scenery, renowned beach, old-fashioned seaside resort, upmarket shops and good pubs. It was my home for over 20 years, and I'm delighted to see Bean 2 the Coast throw some coffee into the mix.

From the outside, Bean 2 the Coast Coffee House looks suspiciously like a tea room. But the sign says "COFFEE HOUSE" (in capitals so there can be no doubt) and on the drinks board inside there are at least half a dozen coffees listed before any mention of teas. So, it is getting the benefit of my doubt.

It is full of Norfolk friendliness and the owners have created a pleasant, relaxed atmosphere. There is nothing too fancy here - it's all simple square tables and wipeable dotted table clothes.

There are cakes and buns available as well as the expected light bites. This (quite understandably) caters for lunchtime crowds, but I'm sure anyone needing just a coffee will be more than welcome at any time of day.

I have to say I don't like the name! But it's a small gripe -- it is a lovely place and recommended.

What's wrong with the name? I think it's kinda cool and so do many of my friends. it has great atmosphere and service with a smile (rare for many such places in this day and age!) The place is primarily a coffee house but so what? it's great to have somewhere to go where you can relax with just a hot drink at any time of day without being obligated to fork out for a big meal.
P.S. You failed to mention that Bean 2 the Coast sells the best homemade scones this side of Norfolk!

It is a lovely, friendly place and, as you say, it's great to have somewhere in Wells to go for a coffee without having to buy food.

Thanks for the tip about the scones! I'll definitely try one next time.

I had the pleasure of popping into this lovely coffee shop last summer with my two children. I was served by two very witty and attractive twin sisters who own and run the establishment – which is a rarity nowadays!
Offering a great range of coffee that anyone could possibly want, - the cakes and ‘signature’ scones were also well worth waiting for!.
My children and I were made to feel very welcome and it was a perfect end to a day in Wells-next-the-Sea.

I urge all ‘has beans’ and ‘will goes’ (yes that was a pun) to go and chill with a cup of Java at this shop.

This is a very welcome addition to Wells-next-the-Sea especially as they are open during the winter months. The owners serve an excellent cappuccino and home made scones not to mention the egg mayo sandwiches. They provide excellent service with that all important smile - a really warm and friendly place.

Having been local visitors to Wells for some years now we were really pleased to see Bean to the coast open when we came to visit in October 2006. Having popped in for a take-away Latte I was suprised to learn that the 'Girls' as we call them and myself grew up in the same small town! Since then they have made my husband and I very very welcome each and every time we visit even when they are run off their feet. I completely agree that Kerry's Scones are to die for, but I usually spend 10 minutes trying to decide between one of them and the carrot cake.
We now plan our visits around the coffee shop and it wouldn't be the same without them.

We absolutely love this place. We work in Wells and make a point of going to lunch once a week - our favourite is the Tuna Baguette and the flapjacks are to die for!!!! Coffee is the best in Wells too.
