The Beanery, Holt

The Beanery, Holt

The Beanery Café is a coffee shop in Holt, North Norfolk (not too far from the coast).

I don't know if horribly dull and wet weather contributed, but the inside felt a little gloomy, and under-decorated in a few spots.  I walk into some coffee shops and they perk my spirits up no end... unfortunately, this isn't one of them.

Nevertheless, it's a good place to go if you're in Holt and fancy a coffee and a peaceful read of the daily papers.  Even at lunchtime on a Saturday it was quiet, so we felt no compunction sipping drinks without ordering food. The food, by the way, includes a lunch menu (a fairly pricey one) and some fresh-looking cakes, brownies and so on.

The usual coffee selection is present (including machiato... mine came in an inappropriately big mug).  I'm not sure I'll go back, but if I do it will have to be on beautiful summer's day; perhaps that will shed the Beanery in a different light.
