Cosy Coffee Shops

Chocolate Soup is a gorge-fest of chocolate, cream and other saintly goodness.

This is not for the faint of heart, in a medical sense. The hot chocolate comes in big mugs or, if you’ve had a bad week, bowls. It’s all beautifully rich and creamy.

I know what you’re thinking; where’s the coffee?  Well, I’m partial to hot chocolate too, especially if mixed with the likes of cinnamon, nutmeg, etc, as was my gorgeous mug of “Harvest Spice”.

And I’m glad to say Chocolate Soup has plenty of coffee as well, even if they do mis-spell “cappucino” in one place.  For the uninitiated there’s a big board illustrating the various options, and it’s second on the menu only to the cocoa drinks.

I have to admit I didn’t try the coffee. But it would have been a travesty to have come here and not porked out on chocolate on this particularly wet, cold and windy Edinburgh morning.

The one bowl kept me going ’til dinner.
