A downright marvelous coffee shop.

I wasn’t expecting to find anything quite as nice as Stray’s on my Newark detour. It’s a wonderful, relaxing place with excellent coffee.
The Beans Coffee Stop is a small chain of five. So not exactly independent, but rightly squeezing its way into this blog.
The Bottle Kiln is a beautifully restored building in West Hallam, between Nottingham and Derby. Visit for shops, a garden and a much lauded café.
The Dolphin Café is a cheery place in the midst of Towcester, Northamptonshire.
Head for the Sainsbury’s in Beeston and you’ll be delighted to stumble upon The Bean Espresso Bar, a terrific little coffee shop.
