Avanti, Ilkley

In the centre of Ilkley is the Avanti Coffee Company, which seems to be the best (and only) coffee shop in town.

A good stop-off point if you're heading up into the Yorkshire Dales.

Milan's Coffee House, Harrogate Top notcher

The Loft, Knaresborough

The Loft, Knaresborough *sigh* .....to all intents and purposes it's just another tea room. Nevertheless, it's a friendly place and worth a mention, even in this blog for coffee houses.

McQueen's, Knaresborough

McQueen's, Knaresborough Most places in Knaresborough are distressingly tea-roomy, as is the case in much of West Yorkshire.

Country Café, Hebden Bridge

Country Café, Hebden Bridge The Country Café is upstairs from the small Country Stores in the middle of Hebden Bridge. Big signs make it easy to spot from the outside.

Cobbles and Clay, Haworth

Cobbles and Clay, Haworth For Haworth, read Bronté sisters. Main Street is a central sloping cobbled path, with four or five cafés for tourists on a "Wuthering Heights" pilgrimage. Cobbles and Clay is the closest thing to a coffee house.

Welcome to Cosy Coffee Shops, a blog dedicated to seeking out terrific independent coffee houses. Most places listed serve drinks that are ethically sourced (for example, Fairtrade). We've visited everywhere at least once. Read more.
