My quest to unearth the best independent coffee shops has, at last, taken me back to Birmingham, a fine city under-represented in Cosy Coffee Shops. 6/8 (or Six Eight) Kafé was my first stop.

McKechnies is a comfy independent coffee shop which opens out onto historic Stratford’s market place.
The only coffee shop I’ve found which bobs up and down and wobbles from side to side. This is (of course) because it resides on one of Birmingham’s many canals.
